Overview

OkuShift is a macOS application that automatically switches display focus based on your gaze direction, detected using your device's camera. This policy describes what data the application processes, what is stored, and how your privacy is protected.

Data We Process

Camera Input

• OkuShift uses your computer's camera to estimate face and eye position
• All camera processing happens locally on your device
• Video frames are used only in real time for gaze detection

We Do NOT:

• Record video or audio
• Store video or images
• Transmit video or images anywhere
• Perform cloud processing
• Use third-party analytics or tracking services

Calibration Data

During calibration, numerical features representing eye position are collected temporarily to train a local model.

The application stores:

• The trained calibration model
• Minimal numeric parameters required for gaze estimation

It does not store:

• Raw images
• Face photos
• Biometric identifiers

Data Storage

Calibration data is stored only on your device, typically in:

You may delete this data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing the configuration folder.

Permissions

The app requests:

• Camera access — required for gaze tracking
• Accessibility access — required to change window focus
• Network access — used only for license validation with Paddle

If you deny camera or accessibility permissions, the related features will not function.

Payment Processing

Purchases are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. When you purchase OkuShift, Paddle collects:

• Name and email address
• Billing address
• Payment information (processed securely by Paddle)

We receive your email address and purchase details from Paddle to provide license keys and customer support. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

Email Communications

If you join our waitlist or subscribe to updates, we collect your email address to send you:

• Product launch announcements
• Promotional offers (such as early-bird discounts)
• Important product updates

Email addresses are collected and processed by Kit.com (formerly ConvertKit), our email service provider. By submitting your email, you consent to receiving these communications.

Unsubscribe

Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time with one click. You may also request deletion of your email address by contacting us at support@okushift.com.

Retention

We retain your email address until you unsubscribe or request deletion. We do not sell or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

License Validation

OkuShift periodically contacts Paddle's servers to validate your license. This request includes:

• Your license key
• A machine identifier (to enforce device limits)

No camera data, gaze data, or usage analytics are transmitted during license validation.

Single-Device License

Each license is valid for one Mac at a time. You may activate your license on a new device at any time — doing so automatically deactivates it on the previous device.

Data Sharing

We do not:

• Sell personal data
• Rent personal data
• Share personal data for third-party marketing purposes

The third parties that may receive your data are:

• Paddle — for payment processing and license management
• Kit.com — for email communications (if you join our waitlist)

We do not use analytics services or advertising networks.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the right to:

• Access — Request copies of your personal data
• Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate personal data
• Erasure — Request deletion of your personal data
• Restriction — Request restriction of processing your personal data
• Portability — Request transfer of your data to another organization
• Objection — Object to processing of your personal data

Data Retention

We retain your purchase information (email, license key, order details) for as long as your license is active and for a reasonable period afterward for customer support and legal compliance purposes.

You can request deletion of your data by contacting us. Note that we may need to retain certain information for legal or accounting purposes.

Children's Privacy

OkuShift is a general productivity tool and is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

International Data Transfers

Your purchase information may be processed by Paddle in countries outside your country of residence, including the United Kingdom and United States. Paddle implements appropriate safeguards for international data transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

This policy may be updated as functionality evolves. Significant changes will be reflected in the application release notes and on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
